Survivre sous les décombres

Les jeunes de Gaza font tout pour sortir de l’étroite bande de terre assiégée. Certains veulent fuir ; d’autres veulent revenir, fort de leur expérience, pour aider à bâtir leur pays. Les guerres, le blocus et les destructions sont cependant en train de modeler la jeune génération, qui est complètement coupée du monde.

Depuis trois ans, les 1,5 millions d’habitants de Gaza vivent sous un blocus total : Israël laisse entrer dans le pays exclusivement l’aide humanitaire, qui ne parvient pas à satisfaire les besoins créés par la politique de ce même gouvernement israélien - une politique qui consiste à fermer complètement la Bande de Gaza, tout en interdisant aux Palestiniens de voyager dans leur propre pays et à l’étranger.

Au cours du dernier assaut militaire généralisé sur Gaza, entre décembre 2008 et janvier 2009, plus connu sous le nom d’Opération Plomb Fondu, tous les regards se sont tournés vers l’étroite enclave, où 1 400 Palestiniens ont été tués, et quelques mille autres blessés. En 22 jours, Gaza a connu plus de destructions que jamais. Celles-ci ont visé les infrastructures civiles et les infrastructures militaires avec une violence égale.

Le traumatisme et ses répercussions dureront bien plus longtemps que ces 22 jours, en particulier chez la jeune génération. Mais dans les faits, la jeunesse de Gaza subit cette violence depuis très longtemps, sous forme d’incursions et de frappes aériennes quotidiennes, et d’une fermeture qui a précédé de plusieurs années le blocus officiel déclaré par Israël en 2007, suite à la prise de pouvoir par le Hamas dans l’enclave palestinienne.

La population de Gaza étant pour presque la moitié composée de jeunes, c’est une punition collective bien cruelle qui lui est infligée : cette sanction vient précisément au moment où ils rêvent d’étudier à l’étranger, de voir de leurs propres yeux ce qui existe hors de leur pays occupé, et de découvrir le monde.

Une génération entière de Palestiniens ne sera jamais sortie de la bande de Gaza, à cause du blocus, n’aura jamais interagi avec des étrangers, ni rencontré d’Israéliens, à l’exception des soldats ennemis, avides de meurtre et de destruction. Les psychologues signalent d’ailleurs une montée alarmante des comportements violents. La moitié des enfants âgés de moins de 17 ans après l’Opération Plomb Fondu pensent « souvent » ou « presque toujours » à se venger de ceux qui sont responsables de la mort de leurs proches, selon une étude publiée par le Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (« Programme de santé mentale de Gaza »).

La moitié des enfants étudiés ont perdu un proche ou un ami, et 54 % ont été témoins d’assassinats à la roquette. Plus de 90 % des enfants ont entendu le bombardement de leur quartier par l’artillerie israélienne, ainsi que le bang supersonique des avions de chasse. Le même nombre d’entre eux a assisté à des bombardements terrestres et a vu des corps mutilés à la télévision.

It's a resistance against occupation, oppression, genocides, terrorism, murder, wars, sieges, sanctions, imprisonment, homes demolition, tyranny, and ethnic cleansing. It's a resistance towards the noble goals represented by freedom , human rights, justice, dignity, honor, equality and sovereignty.
